Join
Although we limit membership to optimize scheduling opportunities for members we do have turnover when Active members leave the area or chose to put their flying on hold for a while.
The process to join is simple - basically just review the rules, complete the application, interview with three board members and pay the fees. You'll then be ready to begin getting checked out in club planes. Here are the details:
· Review the FAQ's.
· Review and print copies Club Bylaws, Rules and New Member Information
· Download and complete the Operations Review . This is an exercise to familiarize you with our rules. Most of the answers are in the Rules. Student pilots with no logged time may complete this after beginning their training.
· Go to AskUs and send a note telling us about your interest. This gives us an "initial inquiry date" for tracking prospective members.
· Download, complete and sign an Application.
· Bring all the above with the required copies and meet with three board members at one of our Meetings to discuss your interest, club practices or any questions you may have.
· If there is a membership position open you may join upon payment of the membership fee ($350) and first month’s dues ($85).
o In the event there are no vacancies, no payment is necessary, you will have the next available spot on the wait list.
o When your turn comes up you’ll be contacted by e-mail or phone and you can then join by promptly paying the membership fee and dues as noted above.
o If you’re not ready to join your application will be retained and you can inform the club when you’re ready to go back on the wait list.
· You will be provided with various access codes for Schedulemaster and club locks. Schedulemaster contains phone numbers for all members including instructors.
· You’re now ready to take flight! Review the New Member Info
o You’ll need to have a checkride with a club Instructor in each plane you intend to fly. Students need their checkride before soloing.
o Semiannual club checkrides to improve your proficiency are only required in any ONE plane, not all the planes you fly.
· As an Active member you’re encouraged (and expected) to participate in meetings, plane cleaning and other volunteer activities. The more you participate, the greater your overall flying experience.
INSTRUCTORS
Instructors are welcome in the club. If you’re on the list of instructors we expect you to participate in club meetings and activities and be available to instruct members. Through interaction with members, instructors are expected to introduce and reinforce club Rules and practices.
We generally have 5-10 active student pilots at any given time with other members pursing instrument, commercial, CFI, II ratings. Instructors also give checkrides to Active members and other instructors.
Of course, most members prefer to fly on weekends but some are available after work or during days.
Instructors who do not wish to use planes for their own pleasure flying may join as "CFI Only" members. There is no initiation fee and only $7/mo dues. CFI Only members may only instruct Active members in club aircraft.
Instructors are part-time and are not compensated by the club. Financial arrangements for instruction are between the member and the instructor.
